A local business that gives new meaning to the old saying: taking out the trash.
Closed Loop Systems is a Geneva Made business that diverts waste from landfills and incinerators towards renewable waste systems that will extract maximum value out of incoming resources.
Most municipal waste management systems simply “take out the trash”, depositing household garbage at the landfill. Closed Loop seeks to maximize resource recovery, creating a sustainable system that is also cost efficient. They believe we can optimize community resources by recovering value from ‘wasted’ materials.
Closed Loop Systems announced in January 2021 that two 100-foot-long trenches and related facilities at 41 Doran Avenue in Geneva were ready to begin processing tons of organic waste.
“Users of the facility will be able to exchange a bucket of food scraps for a bucket of ‘black gold’, as [CEO Jacob] Fox calls it. That nutrient-rich organic fertilizer will be great for farming and gardening.”
